Cloud/VPS Setup & Migration
Choose a server around the application and the people who will maintain it. We review the current workload, deployment requirements and access before planning a new cloud or VPS environment or a move from existing hosting. The agreed scope can cover configuration, application deployment and a checked handover; hosting fees and continuing management are separate decisions.

When this service is useful
When this is the right fit.
- A website or application has outgrown its current hosting or needs a different deployment environment.
- An existing VPS needs a documented configuration, backup plan or clearer ownership.
- A hosting move needs planned checks and a way back if the new environment fails.
Typical problems
Problems we can help solve.
- A cloud or VPS environment is being selected or moved without a workload-specific operating baseline.
- Capacity and configuration have grown without a documented standard.
- Deployments depend on manual knowledge held by one person.
- TLS, routing, backups, logs or service ownership are incomplete.
What the work can include
Work shaped around your needs.
The final proposal is based on evidence and access, so the work remains relevant to the real environment rather than a generic package.
- Review the application stack, storage, background jobs and external dependencies.
- Agree the provider, server sizing, operating system and access responsibilities before setup.
- Configure the agreed application runtime, HTTPS and appropriate access restrictions.
- Plan backups, restore checks, deployment steps and monitoring within the agreed scope.
- Validate representative pages and application functions before a controlled cutover and handover.
Delivery and verification
Clear steps. Checked at every stage.
Mesh Creation keeps scope, approval, verification and the recovery path visible throughout delivery.
Define the target baseline and administrative boundary before provisioning changes.
Check service startup, routing, TLS, deployment and recovery evidence from the target environment.
Record access ownership, recovery expectations and the checks completed at handover.
Scope boundaries
Agree the scope before work starts.
Access, dependencies, environments, acceptance, handover and ongoing responsibility are made explicit. Assumptions are recorded rather than hidden inside delivery.
What shapes the proposal
- Application dependencies and the amount of data to move.
- Provider capabilities, access permissions and existing documentation.
- An acceptable maintenance window and the rollback approach.
- Whether ongoing monitoring, patching and incident support are included after setup.
- Cloud consumption, control-panel licences and provider services are billed and governed by their providers.
- High availability, compliance controls and 24-hour response are included only when explicitly designed and agreed.
Frequently asked questions
Useful questions before starting.
Do we have to move to a particular cloud provider?
No provider is assumed from an enquiry. We review the current setup and requirements before agreeing a suitable environment. Provider subscriptions and usage charges need their own approval.
Is mailbox migration included in a server move?
Only when explicitly included. Website hosting, business mailboxes and application email can use different systems. We map those dependencies and define separate checks before making changes.
Can a migration guarantee zero downtime?
No blanket guarantee is made. Data synchronisation, application behaviour and provider or DNS dependencies affect the cutover. We agree a maintenance window, validation steps and rollback arrangements appropriate to the site.
Who maintains the server after setup?
The handover defines ownership. Ongoing backups, updates, monitoring and incident response require an agreed support scope; a one-time setup does not imply round-the-clock management.
Relevant work and guidance
Explore the next decision.
- Hosting and server migration
Plan a move with dependencies, validation and rollback in view.
- Website maintenance and support
Agree the ongoing checks and responsibilities after launch.
- Business email migration
Treat mailbox movement as its own planned scope.
